Home » Annual Industry and Stakeholder Engagement Forum Sparks Innovation in the Built Environment

On 25 February 2025, Agrément South Africa (ASA) successfully hosted its Annual Industry and Stakeholder Engagement Forum and Expo at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria. This flagship event brought together leaders, innovators, policymakers, the public, and industry experts to explore the future of construction, sustainable solutions, and cutting-edge building technologies.

In his keynote address, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Sihle Zikalala underscored the urgent need for transformation in South Africa’s construction industry. He emphasised the importance of sustainability, innovation, and collaboration in shaping a more resilient and competitive built environment.

“This forum is about breaking barriers and embracing change. To meet the challenges of tomorrow, we must adopt new technologies, strengthen partnerships, and champion sustainable development,” said Zikalala.

The forum provided a unique platform for construction professionals, regulators, investors, and innovators to engage in critical discussions on advancing the built environment. Key focus areas included:

✔ The impact of innovative building technologies (IBTs) on infrastructure development

✔ Regulatory advancements and their role in streamlining construction processes

✔ Addressing market access challenges for emerging industry players

✔ Strengthening collaboration between public and private sectors

The event also featured a Building and Construction Expo, where attendees experienced the latest advancements in construction materials, smart infrastructure, and green building technologies. This interactive exhibition spotlighted game-changing innovations, including:

🏗 Energy-efficient and climate-resilient building solutions

🌱 Eco-friendly and sustainable construction materials

🏠 Smart infrastructure designs enhancing efficiency and affordability

Under the theme “Building Stronger Partnerships for Sustainable Innovation,” this year’s forum reinforced ASA’s commitment to fostering collaboration, driving research, and certifying cutting-edge technologies. The event concluded with key takeaways and actionable insights that will help shape the industry’s future.

As ASA continues to promote quality, safety, and sustainability in South Africa’s built environment, the Annual Industry and Stakeholder Engagement Forum remains a catalyst for transformation, bridging gaps, inspiring change, and paving the way for a brighter, more innovative future.

The future of sustainable construction starts here. Are you ready to build it?
