Envirolite Blocks Building System comprises light-weight concrete blocks manufactured using a mixture of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) beads cement water and Envirolite Concrete proprietary concrete additives. The blocks have a compressive strength of at least 35 Mpa and a dry density of 850 kg/m 3 . The blocks are produced in moulds in a factory with the following dimensions:90 mm wide x 190 mm high x 390 mm long140 mm wide x 190 mm high x 390 mm long190 mm wide x 190 mm high x 390 mm longThe certificate covers the use of Envirolite Blocks Building System in all areas of South Africa for the erection of single-storey buildings for occupancy classes set out below (SANS 10400: Table 1 of Regulation A (20) ):
- places of instruction (A3);
- offices and day clinics (G1);
- dormitories hotels old age school residences (H2);
- dwellings attached (H3); and
- dwellings detached (H4).
Should other occupancies be considered it will require a design from a professional engineer for the specific project.
