Agrement South Africa Hosts Provincial Industry and Stakeholder Engagement Forum in Cape Town
Century City, Cape Town – 27 June 2025
Agrement South Africa (ASA), an entity of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI),
successfully convened its Provincial Industry and Stakeholder Engagement Forum at Century City,
Cape Town on 27 June 2025. Held under the theme “Partnership for Technological Progress:
Innovative Solutions for a Resilient Western Cape,” the event brought together key government
leaders, built environment professionals, and innovators to strengthen collaboration in advancing
sustainable infrastructure solutions.
The forum was honoured by the presence of Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Mr.
Sihle Zikalala, who delivered the keynote address. He emphasised the vital role of partnerships and
innovation in reshaping the country’s infrastructure landscape. “We must work collectively across all
spheres of government and the private sector to accelerate the adoption of alternative building
technologies (ABTs) that address both housing backlogs and climate resilience,” he said.
Also addressing the forum were Western Cape MEC for Infrastructure, Mr. Tertuis Simmers, and
Deputy Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Alderman Eddie Andrews, who both echoed the call for
integrated solutions and highlighted the importance of inclusive development. Their remarks
reinforced the provincial and municipal commitment to working with ASA and other stakeholders to
mainstream innovative construction solutions.
The forum provided a platform for robust dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and networking among
participants. ASA’s executive team led presentations on the agency’s certification processes, quality
assurance mechanisms, and progress in facilitating the uptake of innovative building technologies
(IBTs) in human settlements. The sessions encouraged constructive feedback and collaboration among
manufacturers, built environment professionals, academia, and public sector role-players.
In addition to the main programme, an exhibition space showcased ASA-certified products and
technologies, offering practical insights into how innovation is being applied to meet real-world
infrastructure challenges.
ASA CEO Mr. Richard Somanje applauded the enthusiastic engagement from all stakeholders and
stressed the need for sustained momentum. “This forum is a call to action. We must continue to build
and nurture partnerships that advance technological progress, support economic transformation, and
deliver sustainable infrastructure for all,” he concluded.
Agrement South Africa extends its gratitude to all speakers, partners, exhibitors, and participants who
contributed to the forum’s success. The agency remains committed to fostering an enabling
environment for innovation and resilience in the Western Cape and beyond.
